Having traffic from search engines like Google is very important to a SEO (search engine optimization) blog. Almost 70% of these traffic or readers from Google search helps your blog/s in increasing your earnings especially if you have PPC (pay per click) ads such as Adsense or content link ads. But what will you do if Google drops you from SERP (search engine results page) and your traffic and earnings declines by 70%? Will you hate Google or will you blame yourself? In my case, I blamed myself. The image below represents what happened to my site a week ago. My site lost its high traffic and ranking on Google Web Search.

I’ve investigated for possible reasons why Google dropped me out. Here are some of the reasons according to some blogs I read. First, Google changes its algorithm that’s why your blog was dropped out. Just wait a week or two for Google to put your blog/s back on SERP. Second is Google Bomb, if you attempt to raise the ranking of your blog by linking it to other site/s using similar anchor text. Spamdexing, if you’re repeating unrelated phrases, to manipulate the relevancy or prominence of resources indexed by a search engine, (according to wikipedia). Third, using Black Hat SEO. We all know Google hates that.

So why did I blamed myself? I’m guilty of using Google bomb or Spamdexing to raise ranking from keywords I’ve optimized. Anyway, damage done but this doesn’t stop me from blogging. I still manage to have high traffic even Google is not on my side. How did I manage to increase my site’s traffic without Google?

Here are some of the solutions to increase your blog’s traffic just in case Google drops you out.

1. Feed Readers. Encourage your readers to subscribe to your Feeds. Put a message above or below your blog posts acknowledging them to subscribe to the latest updates from your blog/s.

2. Social Bookmarking Sites. Register and submit your blog post to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Reddit, Mixx, Delicious, Jumptags and Yahoo Buzz.

3. Social Networking Sites and Micro Blogging Sites. You can submit blog posts to sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Plurk.

4. Yahoo! Answers, Mahalo Answers and Wiki Answers. Register and answer the question/s related to your blog post. Don’t forget to include your link. Tip: Wiki Answer has a “dofollow’ attribute.

5. Video Sharing Website. This will also help you gain traffic if you have your own videos on Youtube, Daily Motion, Mega Video and Vimeo. Just put the link on the description of your video/s.

I hope this will help your blog/s survive without Google. Leave a comment below if you have questions or if you want to add more.
