2009 SunTrust National Marathon and Half Marathon started today, March 21 at 7 a.m. and will finish at 1 p.m. in RFK Stadium. A total of 8,000 registered runners and 5,000 in the half race draws a number of runners from the Chicago area, East Coast especially the Maryland, Virginia, DC vicinity. There will be numerous street closings while the runners pass, and there will be traffic delays. View this map to know the official route of this year’s national marathon.

Suntrust National Marathon 2009 results and winners:

Patrick Moulton of Providence, Rhode Island won the full men’s marathon at a time of 2:21:19.
Jeanette Seckinger of Massachusetts won the women’s full marathon at a time of 2:48:41.
Hirut Mandefro won and set a new record in the women’s half marathon with a time of 1:15:36.
Demesse Tefera won in the men’s half marathon with a time of 1:05.
