The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns public to refrain on eating cookies, crackers, candy and ice cream that contain peanut butter or peanut paste. FDA is still working to find out which products are tainted with the strain of salmonella typhimurium which has sickened 474 people nationwide and is implicated in six deaths.

The affected jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter have a product code located on the lid of the jar that begins with the number “2111.” Both the Peter Pan and Great Value brands are manufactured in a single facility in Georgia by ConAgra. Great Value peanut butter made by other manufacturers is not affected. FDA will provide consumers with specific information about what brands or types of products they should avoid once the investigation leads to specific products.
