The 2009 IRS W-4 Form has been published, therefore, effective January 01, 2009 all new hire employees and changes to the IRS W-4 form must be filled out on the 2009 IRS W-4 Form. According to Internal Revenue Service regulations, employees who wish to claim exempt from federal income tax withholding must complete and file a new IRS W-4 form for each calendar year. Therefore, if an employee plans on claiming exempt from their 2009 Federal income tax withholding, the Payroll deadline to receive the IRS W-4 form is January 16, 2009.

Complete Form W-4 so that your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay. Consider completing a new Form W-4 each year and when your personal or
financial situation changes. File a new W-4 form. If you got a tax refund for 2008, adjusting your withholding will fatten your paycheck for 2009. With an average refund of about $2,400, you could be entitled to three extra exemptions. In the 25 percent tax bracket, that could boost your take-home pay by $2,625 a year. To figure your own raise, use the withholding calculator.
