Filipina actress, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle will play the character of Joy in her new movie, Fame! The movie is based off of the 1980’s hit musical film, which centered on the students of the New York Academy of Performing Arts. Also starring are Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, and Walter Perez. Thomas Dekker (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) and Debbie Allen (who played dance teacher Lydia in the original movie and in the television series) are in negotiations to join the cast.
Written by Allison Burnett and Aline Brosh McKenna, film will be directed by choreographer Kevin Tancharoen and distributed by MGM. Fame is set to be released by Lakeshore Entertainment, on September 25, 2009.
Anna Maria Perez de Tagle is the daughter of retired Philippine actor and TV host Archie Perez de Tagle and the grandaughter of Filipina singing legend Sylvia La Torre.
