August is Sight-Saving Month. Department of Health (DOH) is putting awareness on the growing incidence of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). CVS is being experienced by more and more call center agents as well as professionals expose to various visual display terminals such as computer monitors. The subjective signs of visual fatigue with on-screen work are burning or stinging eyes, diplopia or blurred vision after work, tearing, headaches, globe heaviness and fatigue.

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is caused by our eyes and brain reacting differently to characters on the screen than they do to printed characters. Our eyes have little problem focusing on most printed material. Not everyone who uses the computer will have it. It depends on the level of their visual abilities and the amount of time spent looking at the computer screen.
