Today is the celebration of the 106th Labor Day Anniversary. Labor Day, is a regular holiday by virtue of Executive Order No. 203 of 1987, and employees who work on this day are entitled to additional pay, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). This is also the first Labor Day for the new DOLE secretary. Mr. Marianito Roque. Today is also a good day to hit the beach!lol!

Today’s Good News:

1.) Six labor unions with livelihood projects in four regions will be granted a total of P4 million in livelihood assistance.

2.) Department of Labor and employmet (DOLE) will launch GMA Jobs Center. They will deploy and establish a total of 100 GMA Job Centers or kiosks in key areas nationwide like malls, department stores, city halls, and other public places in our major cities and key locations characterized by heavy human traffic, in order to increase the access to job vacancies and relevant jobs information.

3.) DOLE announced that more than 100,000 local and overseas job vacancies nation wide will be offered to job applicants, including new graduates, by hundreds of employers and licensed recruitment agencies at jobs and livelihood fairs.

4.) Free assessment, certification available to poor but deserving computer graduates.

Today’s Bad News:

Gloria Arroyo is still our president… Chronic joblessness, widespread underemployment, stagnating incomes, an unchecked outflow of professionals and skilled workers still exist.
