Slapshock is the premier rapmetal band of the Philippines. The band was signed in 1998, when rapmetal acts were being signed left and right by the major recording companies. Nine years into the business, it can be safely said that Slapshock is no flash in the pan. They are the only band amongst those signed during rapmetal boom that is still visible and active.
Slapshock will be part of the Dubai Desert Rock Fest V 2008 happening on March 7 and 8. Slapshock will be sharing the stage with Headliners Korn and Killswitch Engage, Velvet Revolver and Machine Head. This is the biggest, most prestigious annual rock event in the Middle East with thousands of rock afficionados gathering from all parts of the globe. Previous year’s performers include Iron Maiden, Prodigy, Incubus, Megadeth, Sepultura, Testament, Stone Sour and In Flames. This is gona be a huge break for the band as they become the first Filipino artist ever to participate on the said event.
The Dubai Desert Rock Festival is an event celebrating the different styles of rock and metal music in the world on one stage in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the only festival of its kind in the Middle East. As well as live music, extreme sports is also featured as a crowd attraction. DDRF was once a one day festival, but it has become a two day festival. Despite the name the most popular bands that preform are usually metal rather than rock.
